Ujué: The Balcony of the Ribera
Ujué is a village that seems frozen in time. Perched on a dominant hilltop, its cobbled, labyrinthine streets climb up to the imposing Church-Fortress of Santa María, a jewel of Navarrese Gothic architecture that served both as a place of worship and a frontier watchtower.
Walking through Ujué means enjoying panoramic views that, on clear days, stretch from the Pyrenees mountain range to the Ebro riverlands. Beyond its heritage, Ujué is famous for its gastronomic traditions, with 'migas de pastor' (shepherd's breadcrumbs) being the star dish that draws visitors from all over Navarra. It is, without doubt, one of the most photogenic and authentic corners of the Zona Media.
