Where the ways converge

Puente la Reina is one of the most emblematic towns on the Camino de Santiago, located just 8 km from Iturrieta. Its name comes from the magnificent 11th-century Romanesque bridge over the River Arga, built to help pilgrims cross. With its six semicircular arches, it is one of the jewels of medieval engineering in Navarra.

Stroll along its medieval Main Street, flanked by Baroque and Renaissance mansions. Don't miss the Church of the Crucifix (founded by the Templars), the Church of Santiago el Mayor with its Romanesque portal, and the Casa del Vínculo which houses the tourist office. The area by the River Arga invites peaceful walks with views of the bridge.
