Pamplona: History, Gastronomy and Life
Pamplona, the capital of Navarra, is just 15 minutes by car from Casa Rural Iturrieta. It is a city that perfectly balances its medieval legacy with vibrant modern life. The heart of the city is the Plaza del Castillo, known as the 'living room' of the people of Pamplona, where the historic Café Iruña, one of Ernest Hemingway's favourite spots during his stays in the city, can be found.
The city is world-famous for the Running of the Bulls in July, but it offers treasures all year round. Its Renaissance city walls, among the best preserved in Europe, invite you to walk along the Rincón del Caballo Blanco and enjoy spectacular views. The Cathedral of Santa María la Real is another essential stop, housing the most beautiful Gothic cloister on the peninsula. For food lovers, the pintxos route through the Old Town (Estafeta, San Nicolás and Comedias streets) is an unrivalled sensory experience.
