Monastery of Leyre: Silence and Stone
The Monastery of San Salvador de Leyre is one of the oldest and most important monastic complexes in Spain. Set on the slopes of the Sierra de Leyre, it offers a perfect combination of art, history and an awe-inspiring natural setting with views over the Yesa reservoir.
This monastery served as the burial place of the first kings of Navarra and preserves architectural gems such as its 11th-century crypt, with its robust proportions and unique capitals. Listening to the Gregorian chants of the Benedictine monks during the services is a spiritual experience that transcends religious beliefs, transporting visitors to another era of peace and contemplation.
