The gorge of the vultures
The Foz de Lumbier is a spectacular gorge carved by the River Irati over millions of years, with vertical walls of up to 150 metres. Declared a Nature Reserve, it is home to an important colony of griffon vultures that can be observed soaring over the canyon walls.
The route follows the former course of a railway line, making it a flat, accessible walk ideal for families and people of all ages. The two tunnels carved into the rock (one of them lit) add a touch of adventure. The Mediterranean and riverside vegetation, together with the sound of the river, create an atmosphere of great natural beauty.
