A desert in the heart of Navarra

The Bardenas Reales is a 42,000-hectare semi-desert landscape declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Its clay and sandstone formations, sculpted by wind and water over millennia, create an almost lunar setting that looks like another planet. The Cabezo de Castildetierra, an iconic fairy chimney, is the most recognisable landmark.

The park can be explored by car along signposted tracks, by bicycle or on foot along marked trails. The Bardena Blanca is the most spectacular area with its white hills and ravines, while the Bardena Negra offers pine and kermes oak vegetation. A landscape that has served as a filming location for movies and series such as Game of Thrones.
